It’s a Saturday in July, the anchor is down off a sandbar, and three kids are lined up on the top deck while a grown-up in the water calls “clear!” One by one they shoot down a glossy slide, splash in a few feet off the stern, and swim straight back to the ladder for another turn. Up top, someone else is stretched out on the sun pad; below, the cooler is open in the shade. That is the day people picture when they search for a double decker pontoon boat: a pontoon with a second, upper deck, and very often a slide running from that deck to the water. This guide covers what these boats are, which builders sell them today, what they cost new and used, what to inspect, and how to use the slide safely.

A double decker pontoon boat with an upper deck slide anchored at a lake sandbar

In short: a double decker pontoon boat has a raised upper deck over the back half of the boat, used as a sun deck and as the launch point for a built-in water slide. In October 2026, Bennington (Top Deck), Godfrey (Sundeck) and Avalon (Funship) all list double-decker models with a slide on their own websites, with published starting prices from $91,120 (Avalon) and $95,069 (Godfrey). If you already own a single-deck pontoon, an inflatable pontoon slide costs a few hundred dollars instead.

What is a double decker pontoon boat?

A regular pontoon has one flat deck on two or three aluminum tubes. A double decker adds a second level, usually over the stern, reached by a ladder. Builders call it different things: Bennington says “Top Deck”, Godfrey says “Sundeck”, and Avalon calls its two-level boats “Funships”. Whatever the name, the upper deck is a sun deck, a shade roof for the lower deck, and the height a slide needs.

That last part is why “double decker pontoon with slide” and “pontoon with slide” are such common searches. On the models we found, the slide is a factory part, not an add-on: Bennington describes a “fiberglass waterslide with adjustable water pressure”, and Godfrey’s Sundeck page lists a “fiberglass water slide” with “a continuous water flow to keep the slide cool”. Running water matters, because a dry slide is sticky and slow. It’s the main difference from the inflatable slides most pontoon owners strap to the side rail.

Double decker pontoon boats with a slide: models we could confirm

We only list a model here if the builder’s own website (or, for older boats, a dealer or press page) describes an upper deck with a slide. Prices are the builder’s published starting MSRP when checked in October 2026, which usually excludes destination, freight, prep and options. Model lines change every year, so confirm the current layout with a dealer.

Bennington Top Deck

Bennington’s “Top Deck Pontoon Boats” page promises “more space for a slide or sunbathing” and lists the SX Line and L Line as its recommended Top Deck models. Its Top Deck layout page lists the slide, the upper lounge deck and non-slip flooring as features, and the L Line layouts page shows one Top Deck floor plan (rear bar with sink, galley, table and four chairs) at about 28 ft 3 in overall. Bennington shows a starting price for each line, but those prices are for the base boat (the L Line figure is an 18 ft model with a 50 hp engine), not a Top Deck build. Use the builder’s “Customize & Price” tool or ask a dealer for a real Top Deck quote.

The best independent look at one is Boating Magazine’s review of the 2022 Bennington L25 Quad Bench Top Deck. It reported that the upper deck is through-bolted to the crossmembers, is rated for four people or 585 lb, and has an open rail at about knee height. The slide is “lubricated with water fed by the shared washdown pump”, and the reviewer suggested separate shutoff valves for the slide and the washdown. That tested boat was $122,961 with a Mercury 250 in 2022.

Godfrey Sundeck (Monaco and AquaPatio)

Godfrey calls its two-level boats “Sundeck Double Decker Pontoon Boats”. The Sundeck page lists a “sundeck lounge space with fiberglass water slide”, a non-slip sunpad (with an optional Marine Mat upgrade) and a slide with continuous water flow. There are three versions: Sundeck Cruise with four chaise benches below, Sundeck Entertainment with a dining table, and Sundeck Bar with a high-top table and four stools. The Monaco Sundeck comes in Cruise and Bar layouts from $95,069 MSRP, and the sportier AquaPatio Sundeck in Cruise and Entertainment layouts from $119,739. Godfrey’s Monaco page gives the series as 21 to 27 ft and 11 to 18 passengers overall, without a separate figure for the Sundeck or its upper deck.

Avalon Funship

Avalon has a whole “Double Decker” category, titled “Luxury Pontoon Boats with Slides”, and it says you can “sunbathe or slide from the upper deck and enjoy the shade, cruising from the lower deck.” Two models sit in it: the Catalina Cruise Funship and the Catalina Entertainer Funship, each in 25 ft and 27 ft, each “starting at $91,120”, and Avalon says the starting price includes a motor. The spec list mentions upper-deck sun pads and speakers but doesn’t itemize the slide, so confirm it’s included on the boat you’re quoted.

Premier Escalante (older, check availability)

Premier Marine launched the Escalante for the 2016 model year as a walk-on upper-deck pontoon with a slide. Powerboating.com listed it at 31 ft 5 in long and 10 ft 2 in wide, rated for 24 people: 20 below and four on the upper deck. We couldn’t confirm a current Premier model with a slide, so treat it as a boat you might find used, and check with a Premier dealer before assuming anything about new ones.

Who a double decker pontoon suits

These boats shine for families with kids old enough to climb a ladder and swim, and for anyone whose summer revolves around sandbar days, coves and swim stops. Teens get a deck of their own, sunbathers get a pad away from the traffic below, and everyone else gets more shade.

They suit you less if you mostly cruise, fish or tow tubes and skiers, if you keep the boat in a covered slip or low boathouse, or if you trailer it every weekend. You’re paying for a feature that only earns its keep when the boat is anchored.

The trade-offs: height, weight, wind and the upper-deck limit

  • Height. An upper deck and slide tower make the boat taller on the trailer, under a lift canopy, in a boathouse and under low bridges. None of the builder pages we read publish a trailering height for these models, so ask the dealer for the exact figure and measure your storage, your lift and the bridges on your lake before you buy.
  • Weight. The upper deck, ladder and slide add weight, and the people up there add more. A heavier boat needs a trailer and tow vehicle rated for it; ask for the dry weight of the exact build.
  • Wind and balance. A taller boat catches more wind, which makes docking and anchoring harder on a breezy day, and people up top raise the center of gravity. No builder we checked publishes a wind limit for using the upper deck, so be conservative: keep the top deck for calm water and at anchor.
  • The upper-deck limit. It’s far smaller than the boat’s total capacity. Bennington’s 2022 L25 Top Deck was rated for four people or 585 lb up top, and Premier listed four on the Escalante. Godfrey and Avalon don’t publish an upper-deck number on the pages we read, so look for the label on the boat and ask the dealer.

Double decker pontoon for sale: new or used?

New gets you the current layout, the builder’s warranty and a dealer who can tell you the upper-deck rating, trailering height and weight for the exact build. Published starting prices in October 2026 were $91,120 for Avalon’s Funships (motor included) and $95,069 for Godfrey’s Monaco Sundeck. Bennington doesn’t publish a Top Deck price on its pages; its quote tool or a dealer will.

Used can save real money, but the selection is thin, because builders make far fewer double deckers than single-deck pontoons. Two examples when checked in October 2026: a 2025 Bennington 26 L Double Decker with a Mercury 200 and 375 engine hours, described as having “a spacious top deck complete with an integrated water slide”, was listed at $89,000 in Buford, Georgia; and a 2026 Godfrey Monaco 255 SDB (Sundeck Bar layout) was listed used at $99,999 in Hampstead, New Hampshire. These are asking prices, not sale prices, and they change quickly. Renting one for a day first is a cheap way to find out whether your family actually uses the top deck.

What to inspect on a used double decker pontoon

  • The upper deck structure. Look at where the frame meets the main deck and crossmembers (Bennington’s is through-bolted to the crossmembers). Check for cracked welds, loose or corroded fasteners, and any flex when two adults stand up top.
  • Railings and the ladder. Every rail section should be tight, with no wobble. Note the rail height: Boating Magazine described Bennington’s upper rail as about knee height, so plan how you’ll supervise young kids up there.
  • Slide mounts and surface. Check the brackets at the top and wherever the slide is supported, and run a hand down the fiberglass for cracks, chips and soft spots.
  • The slide’s water supply. Run the pump. On boats where the slide shares the washdown pump, see whether the seller added separate valves.
  • The capacity label. Find the boat’s capacity plate and any separate upper-deck label, and make sure they’re present and readable. If the upper-deck label is missing, ask the builder for the rating before anyone climbs up.
  • Paperwork. Ask for the build sheet (or the hull ID, so a dealer can look it up), the owner’s manual and service records. A shop survey of the tubes, deck and engine is worth the fee on a boat in this price range.

Safety on the upper deck and the slide

We looked for upper-deck rules in Bennington’s general owner’s manual (2020–2021 edition) and didn’t find a section on the top deck or slide, so ask the dealer for any model-specific supplement and the labels on the boat. Until then, these rules come from authorities and slide makers:

  • Engine off, then slide. Anchor in calm water, switch the engine off and keep it off while anyone is in the water. The US Coast Guard warns never to sit or hang on the back deck or swim platform while engines are running, because of carbon monoxide.
  • Deep, clear water at the landing. No builder we found publishes a minimum depth for a factory pontoon slide. For comparison, RAVE’s product page asks for at least 5 ft of water under its inflatable pontoon slide, and its owner’s manual asks for 8 ft of water and 20 ft of clear area. A slide from an upper deck starts higher, so aim for at least that and check the bottom for rocks and stumps. See water depth and clearance.
  • One rider at a time, feet first. The next rider waits until the last one has swum clear of the landing. Have one adult at the top and one watching the water.
  • Respect the upper-deck limit. Count heads up top and stay inside the builder’s rating, never the boat’s total capacity.
  • Life jackets. Federal rules require children under 13 to wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket while underway (state rules may differ), and a life jacket in the water is a good idea for every young or weak swimmer. Our kids on boats guide covers sizes and fit.
  • Know what the capacity plate means. Federal capacity-plate rules apply to monohull boats under 20 ft, and the regulation says a pontoon boat is not a monohull. Pontoon builders still put capacity labels on their boats, and you should treat them as hard limits. Coast Guard requirements lists the rest of the required gear.

For rider weights on inflatable slides, see pontoon slide weight limits. If your boat is a houseboat rather than a pontoon, houseboat slides covers the fiberglass slides made for those upper decks.

No upper deck? Add an inflatable pontoon slide

Most families get their slide without buying a new boat. An inflatable pontoon slide straps to the side or stern of a regular pontoon, inflates in minutes and rolls up for storage. You give up the height and the pumped water. You gain a slide for a few hundred dollars that fits the boat you already own. As the review site Lake Lubbers puts it, fixed slides “require an upper deck and professional installation”. These three were in stock on Amazon when we checked in October 2026:

Double decker pontoon boat questions

Which builders make a double decker pontoon boat with a slide?

In October 2026, Bennington (Top Deck, on its SX and L lines), Godfrey (Monaco and AquaPatio Sundeck) and Avalon (Catalina Cruise and Entertainer Funship) all describe double-decker models with a slide on their own sites. Premier built the Escalante with an upper-deck slide from 2016, but we couldn’t confirm a current model. Our pontoons with slides page keeps the list.

How much does a double decker pontoon cost?

New, Avalon’s Funships start at $91,120 with a motor and Godfrey’s Monaco Sundeck at $95,069 MSRP (AquaPatio Sundeck $119,739), checked in October 2026. Options, freight and prep add to that. Used examples we saw were listed at $89,000 (2025 Bennington 26 L Double Decker) and $99,999 (2026 Godfrey Monaco 255 SDB).

How many people can be on the upper deck?

Only what the builder rates that deck for. Bennington’s 2022 L25 Quad Bench Top Deck was rated for four people or 585 lb, and Premier listed four upper-deck places on the Escalante. Godfrey and Avalon don’t publish an upper-deck figure on the pages we read, so check the label on the boat. Never go by the boat’s total capacity.

Can I add a slide or an upper deck to my pontoon?

Aftermarket upper decks for pontoons have been sold, but we didn’t find a maker selling a confirmed bolt-on rigid slide kit for a pontoon upper deck. Talk to your boat’s builder before adding either, since both add load and need solid mounting points. An inflatable pontoon slide strapped to the main deck is the simple alternative.

Is there a wind or age limit for using the upper deck or slide?

No pontoon builder or slide maker we checked publishes a wind limit or a minimum age. Keep the top deck and slide for calm water at anchor, stay inside the published weight and people limits, and supervise children closely.
